Design

How your website looks and feels to your viewers affects their perceptions of your business. Design incorporates many aspects including:

  1. Graphics

  2. Sound

  3. Helper applications such as Java or Flash

  4. Speed of web page loading

  5. Presentation on different web browsers

  6. Presentation on different screen sizes

  7. Search tools

  8. Printer friendly pages

  9. Ease of navigation

All of the above contribute to the viewers experience. Care should be exercised in employing graphic designers. They should be aware of your overall business and web plans and they should incorporate your strategy into the web design. Websites can easily be over or under designed. Prototypes and milestones should be tested for usability and aesthetics before implementation.

Remember, all decisions in the design stage should be part of a feedback loop to your business plan. Your business plan may change or your web strategy may change during the design process. Click HERE for a pictorial representation of the feedback mechanism.
