Payroll Deductions

You're responsible for deducting income tax, Canada Pension Plan (CPP) or Quebec Pension Plan (QPP) contributions, and Employment Insurance (EI) premiums from your employees' paycheques. You are also responsible for remitting this money to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) at regular intervals.  These intervals are prescribed by CRA and are based upon the size of your total payroll.

It's a good idea to remit payroll deductions on time. If your payment is late, you will have to pay a penalty and interest.

Additional information and guides with respect to requirements to withhold and remit these amounts is available at the website CRA Payroll.
