Transportation Employees - Meals Expenses

Employees of airlines, railways, bus, trucking, or other employers whose principal business is the transportation of passengers and/or goods and who are regularly required to be away from the municipality in which you live using vehicles provided by the employer, may deduct the cost of lodging and 50% of your meals incurred while away. The deduction is reduced by any employer reimbursements. If you do not want to track the actual meal costs, you are permitted to estimate the costs based on CRA's policy. You may claim one meal for every 4 hours away to a maximum of 3 meals per day.

The following is CRA's policy on per meal expense amounts which are not receipted. Remember, the actual deduction is based on 50% of the expense amounts.
